This June, our Postdoc Ekaterina Pronizius chaired the Program Committee for SIPS 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. The meeting marked the 10th anniversary of SIPS, celebrating a decade dedicated to improving psychological science through openness, collaboration, and methodological rigor. The dynamic program included workshops on blinded analyses and detecting data fabrication, hackathons on developing open educational resources, and unconferences addressing topics such as AI integration, radical transparency, and fostering critical thinking in science. Other sessions during the conference explored enhancing neurodiversity research, developing preregistration platforms, improving replication practices, building open educational resources, and creating frameworks to assess psychological tests.
Ekaterina moderated the keynote roundtable The Past, Present, and Future of Scientific Reform II, featuring Lisa Spitzer, Alexandra Sarafoglou, Agata Bochynska, Jeffrey Lees, and Marton Kovacs. This session highlighted the perspectives of emerging rising stars in open science and sparked discussions on how the next generation can shape reform efforts.
Additionally, Ekaterina presented a lightning talk proposing Big Team Science in clinical psychology, emphasizing the opportunities and challenges of large-scale collaboration when researching vulnerable populations.
The meeting concluded with a social gathering on a Danube sightseeing boat, where participants reflected on community achievements while enjoying Budapest’s evening skyline. Ekaterina expressed her deep appreciation to the local organizing team at ELTE University led by Balazs Aczel, PhD, and her interns Anna Kulesza & Anja Gaiswinkler, whose dedicated support ensured smooth coordination and preparation throughout the event.
